If you need a 3 inch wide tire, I can understand your change of bike.  Odd looking fork.

  Odd looking fork.

I had a front fork like this (actually a chrome add-on brace that attached to the front axle and steerer) on my old dirt track bike in the late 1950s-early 60s.

Jeff Jones' bikes seem to be the business for off-road bikepacking, Pete. I recently read a very positive review of one of his bikes in Bicycle Quarterly, though that machine didn't have a Rohloff.   I seem to recall that toe overlap was a problem with the front wheel if it was equipped with a mudguard; but again, the test bike didn't have 29x3 tires.  Enjoy your Aotearoa off-road trek!

Whatever he paid, he's getting a bargain.

I for one hope that doesn't mean you'll be going away, Pete. We need all the wisdom we can get!
