Retrofitting rear BB7 brake problems. 160mm not correct?
« on: September 18, 2011, 03:16:07 am »
I'm rebuilding my Nomad MK 2 frame (actually a brand new one), and attempting to put on an Avid BB7 mechanical brake in the rear. My rohloff is drilled for a 4-hole rotor, and the frame has holes.

So I ordered a 160mm brake, which came w/ a rotor I can't use, and ordered a 4-hole rotor from SJS, also 160mm, the only size on the nomad spec sheet.

But it appears too large! Or I'm doing something silly.

Note in the picture that the caliper is not actually connected to the frame, because the rotor is actually touching the top of the inside portion of the caliper between the pads. It looks like 160mm is not the correct size??

The Avid BB7 160mm is normally supplied with two mounts to enable one caliper package to fit either front or rear international standard mount spacing . It appears you are trying to mount yours using the front mount.
The other bracket in the box, marked 20mm IS, will give you the clearance required as it is taller.
I hope this helps.
