What width mudguards would go best on a Nomad??
I am looking at some SKS/ESGE adjustable type, colour black.
currently running 1.5" tyres.
what does everyone else have??

Black SKS guards.  Stick them to the middle peg on the fork and you don't need the QR thing.  I don't know the size, but mine are not the widest ones and are a pretty tight fit running 1.75s.  In fact this got me into a spot of bother this summer on a muddy field run and I would be tempted with the wider versions for the future (my wife put these on and had no problems).  For 1.5 and mostly on-road I think that a smaller guard looks neater.

Definitely get the black ones though...

Thanks for that Chris ...

Robin Thorn says that they install SKS P45s designed for 700C wheels as stock for their Nomad builds. Hmmmmmmmm

yes, definitely the black ones indeed!

cheers,

Hi Hoogie,
I have fitted the widest SKS P65 to both my touring MTB's. Most of the time I use Specialized Nimbuses 1.5, but at times I fit MTB rubber, Hutchinson Chamaleon's -great knobbies for using the bikes off-road only- and no prob with the mudguards.

I usually run with 1.5" Tioga City Slickers and the SKS P50s. These offer just enough clearance that I can switch to 1.9" Continental Town & Country's in the winter with only minor adjustments. http://www.sjscycles.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=112&whichpage=1

I'll be the lone vote for silver.
