Beach Biking Maddness
« on: January 18, 2009, 02:05:22 am »

I just came back from a holiday in Baja and uploaded some photos on Flickr.  If you are in the mood for some beach biking and sea kayaking porn take a look:

Vik,

Bob

Thanks Bob - much fun was had!

I actually had 3 cameras with me:

- Cannon S500 [an older 5MP point and shoot, but a camera I love]
- Olympus Stylus 850SW [an 8MP waterproof camera I used mostly when kayaking]
- Pentax Optio WP [an 8MP waterproof camera I loaned to Kurt & Nivea so they could take some photos]

At home I use a Cannon SD870IS [an 8MP with image stabilization, but it doesn't work as well for shooting on bike action shots].

Stunning photos, thanks.
Glad to see the Alfine hubs seem to be up to a bit of tough use, I'm toying with the idea of putting one in my Raven, to free up the Rohloff for another project.

That Surly Pugsley has some huge wheels, but they are lighter than they would appear.

If you want to know the fate of the Nomad see this blog post:

http://thelazyrando.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/lazy-rando-command-centre-video-tour/

I feel a bit bad as I'm posting a bunch of non-Thorn photos to this site, but not to worry as soon as the salt/slush/grime/sand is gone from the roads I'll be taking the Nomad out on tour and should have some nice Thorny bike porn to share.... ;D

If you aren't totally sick of me posting non-Thorn content on this forum yet here is a review I wrote for my local bike shop's website of the Surly Pugsley.

http://www.bowcycle.com/bikes/blogs/viks-picks/2009/01/26/surly-pugsley-review/

I promise once I get the Nomad finished and the weather gets better I'll be on the Thorn-touring-bike-porn-train with my foot heavily on the gas pedal or whatever trains use to faster!.... ;)

That looks like glenmore park!

A Pugsley, I'm jealous!  My new year's resolution was not to acquire any more bicycles.

Good eye...that's the Weasel Head side of the Glenmore Reservoir. Great snow biking at the moment.... ;D

About that NYE resolution - you need to come over for a few beers so I talk some sense into you!...hahaha.... ;D
