1999 Thorn Club Tour
« on: January 06, 2009, 12:30:07 pm »
Hi All

Not sure if I should start this thread here or in the For Sale forum so apologies if I did wrong....

As the title suggests I have this 1999 Thorn club tour and I want to sell it however I haven't a clue what to price it at. I have searched around the internet for similar ones but have come up with nothing and SJS won't give any thoughts over the phone (which I understand) so I am in a bit of a quandry. I am happy to sell it on eBay but need to have some idea for a reserve.

Piccies are here. Usage mainly commuting in first year and very rarely afterwards. Friend used it for 6 months last year for triathlons and replace bottom bracket since photos taken...

Please note that:

1. I am NOT trying to auction it here and now!
2. I am not expecting people to make offers in reply to this thread
3. I will either put it up for sale in the For Sale forum or eBay when I have a vague idea of it's worth.

Thanks in advance

Hello,
Its a Thorn tourer, albeit with rubbish bar setup, and worth about £200.
John.

Hi John

thanks for the quick reply. i agree about the bar setup - someone (not at sjs!) talked me into it at the time - always meant to change  it but never got round to it.

Cheers

Ian

Hi freddered

It measures about 23.5" from bottom bracket to top of seat tube but my hands were frozen so not sure how accurate. On the receipt it says 585 Club Tour so I presume that is 585 mm (23")?

Cheers

Thats from the days when our Club Tours were made by Falcon/Claud Butler.  They were £550 new ish.  They were sized 19/20/21/22/23 from memory though I could be wrong. Clean it up and polish a set of normal riser bars and eBay I bet you will get £300 ish for it.

Thanks for all the feedback... Can you recommend reasonable riser bars?

I'll try and fix it up this week and see what happens.

Cheers

Thorn comfort bars, or any cheap make.
