Who needs a clickstand when you can have a 5,000+ year old substitute?

Enjoying a 4 day tour of Orkney during a Spring dry spell.
( On Orkney there is no such thing as bad weather. Just inadequate oil skins).

These neolithic monolithic stones are everywhere.
The picture shows my Raven taking a break at Sternness Standing Stones.

geocycle:
Awesome picture! Hope the raven doesn’t knock it over, would have been worried about a weightier nomad!

Andre Jute:
According to an archaeologist who used to come hillwalking with us, these stone circles were erected at power-points in the ancient religions, say where lay-lines crossed. So, tell us, Matt, did you notice your GPS and phone charging while your bike leaned against the boss-stone of the powerpoint?

Matt2matt2002:
Andre: interesting point.

I had also heard something along those 'lines'.

No noticeable charging of cell phone but certainly good vibrations.

As I stood in the middle, I shut my eyes and drifted back 5,000 years putting myself in the place of those heroic souls who built the circles. Imaging their lives and struggles as they toiled year after year setting the stones in exactly the right position to catch the summer solice rays at dawn each year.

I nearly had a heart attack when someone tapped me on my shoulder asking if I was ok!
