Bearing insights
« on: August 22, 2020, 11:26:38 pm »
For those who are interested in such details, I found this youtube video made by a gent who obviously knows his engineering, about bearings in general, though the video focuses on the question of steel vs ceramic bearings specifically.

I know I leaned a bit, and after a different post here about whether hope hubs are worth the premium, I'm more inclined to want to try them, believing that they likely contain a better grade of that taken for granted item - the humble bearing, without which we'd all be walking.

I know that the extremely expensive Cris King products, which make the Hope hubs seem very inexpensive, are in part so expensive because they consider it vital for their brand to manufacture their own bearings. Food for thought. Danger to wallets.

Thanks for posting this and introducing me to the world of Hambini. I found it really interesting, especially the explanation on his site about the various types of sealing on cartridge bearings.
