Brilliant blue and superb contrasts, Andrew.  I've never visited WA, though our son and daughter-in-law, now in Gold Coast, were in Perth for 5 months before switching coasts.

If the PDW works, stick with it.

If the PDW works, stick with it.

I went bush overnight on Monday and tried out the PDW and an old Dinotte light I had as I wanted at least something on the front. The PDW is really a great light at night but not up to during the day. I think a light with a specific daylight flash is going to be the go; same as for the front.
