Back to Front - Help
« on: October 10, 2019, 05:38:43 pm »
A cycling friend has a Rohloff with an X-Box (not on a Thorn obviously) with 1 the highest gear and 14 the lowest.
This is contrary is it not ?
How does one go about swapping it to what is the convention ?

The shifter cables at the hub appear to be reversed.  When I changed my cables a few years ago, I accidentally got my cables reversed at the hub.  I had to disconnect my cables and switch them at the hub.

Yep, done that and it's annoying enough to not do it again, but no big deal to reverse.

Ha ha. Yes, I've done this when putting the bike back together after a flight from UK to Ethiopia.
The gear changer had shifted and I connected the connectors the wrong way around.
No big problem to correct.
But a strange experience cycling so fast in first gear.
Never drink and drive. You may hit a bump  and spill your drink

A bit more of a hassle if it's external shifting (Is that what's meant by X-box?) needs the cables re-threading into the pulley.

Yup, youtube is great for some of this stuff.  With help from youtube a couple weeks ago I avoided a couple hundred dollar labor fee on my Land Rover D2.
