Hi all - Planning on a 2 week tour in Norway at the end of July with the idea to combine cycling from place to place and hiking up some of the mountains in the area. With easy flights from London to Tromsø, and Trondheim available are there any recommendations from Forum members? Thanks for any suggestions.Rich.

Pavel:
How are the plans coming along? I've never been to Norway so I can't give any advice except perhaps to suggest to take me along ;) I hope to read more details as the day draws near.

Plans are coming together - leaving on 30 July and returning on 12 August. Flying from Gatwick to Narvik and back from Bodø. This leaves 2 weeks to leisurely tour the Lofoten Islands. The plan hasn’t really come together other than that and the fact we want to do some hill walking and whale watching while there. I think the shortest distance between the airports would be with 300km of cycling so am expecting to take it slow with lots of stops. It looks like an amazing area so will post some photos when back.

Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

May I ask, your daily budget? Exclude getting there and back.
I have heard that the Scandinavian countries are quite pricey compared to UK.

Hi - flight costs were around £500 including bike. We plan on wild camping as much as possible as it’s allowed in Norway. I think food costs are higher than in the UK but not masively so. If you keep off alcohol and away from hotels then costs shouldn’t be too high. I’m thinking that we should manage on £20-£30 per day for food for two of us
