replacing my Thorn triple solo alloy crankset length 170mm

(1/2) > >>

arielos:
Hello,
I recently devastated my right crank pedal while trying to screw the left pedal inside. I have tries to screw the right pedal after but it only screws in an angle.
So i probably need new right crank.
I bought my thorns 7 years ago (Thorn 110/74 PCD Triple Solo Alloy Crankset - Silver) and the length of the crank is 170mm.
Can you please tell me what replacement crank i need please? I see in your site you only have 140mm and 14mm
Regards

AndyE:
nil desperandum, take it to a cycle shop and see if rethreading will work first or have them bush out the thread. Have a look at the video

I went to the shop and they said I need to replace the right crank.
Can you link me to the crank I need at sjscycles?
Thanks

Oh, dear...Things Happen. The same result can occur if the steel pedal spindle threads gall to the aluminum crankarm.

You're correct -- currently, SJS Cycles only lists right-hand crankarms in the smaller sizes. It would be worth contacting them to see if they expect replacements in 170mm soon.

Short of that, SJS Cycles currently stock complete replacement chainsets (both crankarms, hardware, and a set of mounted chainrings) in 170mm and *black* color at a current price of £119.99 Inc VAT here:

Very best of luck and all condolences. Please let us know how you come out.

Welcome to the Thorn Cycling Forum, Arielos.

Best,

Dan.

Thanks for the answer.
I have a roll off so the triple chainset isn't an option..
Is there anowhere else to purchase such a crank?
