Olivia...reborn Thorn EXP
« on: May 08, 2017, 06:20:20 pm »
Hi meet Olivia.
She is dressed by being powder coated in Blasgrun. (ral 6021 to use her official title) with matching black and silver components. I sanded the Thorn logo and painted the red O myself
Wheels were hand-built by Dave at Nidderdale cycles
Brakes took a bit of fiddling but I'm hoping will work flawlessly
A bit still to finish, racks, cages and decals.

Looking forward to many adventures

Olivia is looking stunning in my books -- lovely!

All congratulations, and many thanks for the share. Well done! I remember your first post where you bought the bike on eBay and asked for color suggestions. The result you chose is only fantastic.

A belated welcome to the Thorn Cycling Forum.

All the best,

Dan.

Nice work!  Especially like the contrast between the robin's-egg green (my description) and the Brooks Champion.

That shade of green is not so common, but I've seen it used to great effect on some other two-wheeled machines. A friend runs a contemporary Vespa in what their marketing people choose to call Mint Green(!), and there's an icon from the 1950s in the photo below.

really nice job!
you ought to put a couple of before pics up
hope your sunrace/sturmey shifters last longer than mine did, if they do go wrong shimano bar end shifters will go straight on those mounts, i have them on the Marin with dura ace 9 speed fitted

edit
I clicked your user name and went to your 1st post on here, you wouldn't think that was the same frame  8)

Very nice, that colour reminds me of my youth making Airfix models and painting the underside of planes Duck egg blue,a very nice bike.

quick question
is that a nidd saddle? i thought about getting one as i'm not running mudguards on a new build i've been getting finished
if it is a nidd did you buy it as it's cheaper than Brooks or did you get it for the reason i'm thinking of getting one, the waterproof laminate layer bonded to the underside of the leather?

Ooh, I love these legal steroids and that color. I think it needs some red and beige whitewall tyres to go with that look.

That shade of green suits it!

The bike is beautiful but now the rider has to be soooooo careful to wear compatible colours when riding.
