Light Spring Conversion (Rohloff 8110)
« on: April 05, 2017, 10:10:39 pm »
I've had a Speedhub for roughly 13 years now, so it's quite an early one. I recently learned that at some point in its development history, they decided to switch to a lighter spring for the shift mechanism. I've always wondered why they made it so damn heavy so this makes complete sense. Anyway, I did a bit of reading and it seems Rohloff have a conversion procedure ("part" number 8110). Apparently this isn't something an end user can replace (though I'm sure I could manage if push came to shove), so I'm wondering if there is someone in the UK who I could get to do this? i.e. Has anybody else had this done to their old Speedhub?

TIA

Presumably if anyone can do it, St John Street Cycles can, give them a call.

Jeremy (Sycip Cycles in San Rafael) did what looks to me like a perfect job!

It may take me a couple weeks to build up but my belted Rohloff Thorn Nomad travel bike is taking shape

I'm incredibly interested in doing a belt conversion myself, so please keep us posted on the progress.
