classic audax project
« on: February 14, 2017, 04:49:38 pm »
Thought I'd introduce myself (Hello:)
and post a picture and explanation of my Audax project
I was toying with PBP in 2019 and building up slowly to 600KM on either my old Raleigh gran tour or 1950s Holdsworth, Neither of which are really ideal, anyway, I call in at the recycling centre (or "the Dump" as it's better known) in North Devon and find this, Total Result !!! It's my size and cost a whole £10 inc the forks, It's spent the last 2 months soaking in plus gas/petrol/anything I can think of to remove the seized in seatpost, anyway, I bit the bullet today and filled the seat tube with caustic soda to dissolve it, so with a bit of luck in a week or so I'll be ready to paint/powder coat it and build it up. So if anyone here knows Alan Withers (the previous owners name ? on the top tube) let him know I probably owe him a beer or two for dumping it :)

Welcome to the Thorn Cycling Forum and...what a wonderful find!

All best wishes for your randonneur goals; this looks like the machine to make it easier.

Best,

Dan.
