Thorn Audax 853 rolling chassis
« on: February 07, 2017, 10:06:20 pm »
After much thought, I have decided to sell my Audax 853.

The frame is size 565L. It is 13 years old and has seen a fair few rides, so not pristine but not too bad either. The wheels I had built for me by Harry Rowland. They are Mavic A719 rims built with 36 spokes onto LX hubs. These are mountain bike hubs and fit the frame nicely. They even have fairly new Vittoria tyres on them. I am leaving the brakes, Ultegra dual pivot, the front mech which is a 105 triple, and the seat post. The headset is the original but still seems smooth, the bottom bracket is about 3 months old.

I would like to get £300 (+ postage if you can arrange that) for all of it. I really don't want to split it up.

The picture is of it in the garage being worked on. I will try to get some better ones if there is any interest.

Hello,
Could you please confirm stated size? It looks more like a 550 judging my head end.
Just checking because I have been looking for one my size for some little while.
Regards,
John

Hi John

I bought it as a 565L. If you think that looks wrong then I am happy to measure any tube for you. I realise that the picture is not the best, I need to get it outside and do some more. Maybe that will help.

Bob,
Size numbers should be under the thick paint underneath the bottom bracket.
Difficult to judge size from tube measurements.
Picture of the one I owned.

I have checked the underside of the bottom bracket and it looks as if the frame is actually a 535 and not the 565 on my receipt.
