Rohloff install question
« on: January 10, 2017, 03:08:48 pm »
Just receive the Rohloff built wheel , from The Netherlands, yesterday for my wife's touring bike.
So the next step ,after her bike is painted, will be doing the install. I noticed, on the Rohloff site/videos, that they used a tube (200mm) long to determine the cable length.
How have you gone about the install?
Thanks!

It all depends on the type of rohloff,  does it have an EX box?

I watched a video, perhaps the same as you.  I do not recall if I used a ruler to measure 200mm or if I cut a plastic drinking straw to that length.  I might have used the straw, as I carry two 100mm plastic drinking straws with my bag of spares when I travel with my Rohloff bike.  A 200mm straw in my spares is too long, so I cut it in half thinking that if I have to do a repair on a trip I can use the two straws together to get 200mm.

Just use a ruler or a tape measure to get it as accurate as you can
Set your cable adjusters with some leeway either direction and use them to fine tune.
