Marathon Supreme - Revamped for 2016
« on: March 12, 2016, 09:20:30 am »
I just noticed that there is a new Marathon Supreme with a much smoother looking tread pattern.   8)

When I used 26 x 1.6" Supremes on my RST I got more vibration through the handlebars than I did with 1.75" Pasela TGs, although I never knew how much was down to the tyre and how much was down to the dynohub. But this new smoother looking tread pattern looks very attractive to me, I could use a pair of 700 x 32 on one of my bikes and SJSC have them in stock!

However, if anybody here has tried them already I'd be very interested to read about your first impressions.

Cheers
Jim

As a related aside: I run supremes and am very pleased with them. I weigh 80kg and on an unladen bike inflate my supremes to 4bar; considerably lower than the max 6bar. What are other users inflating to?

I weigh about 85 kg, and use about 4 bar at the rear, maybe 4.5 bar when the bike is loaded. At the front, I use a little less than 4 bar unloaded, about 4 bar with front panniers.

I like the feel of the Supremes--no vibration, though the ride is firmer than, say, the 700 x 35mm Marathon Racers I use on my day-ride bike. [Schwalbe seems to have discontinued the 26 x 1.75 Racers  :( ]

My only problem with the Supremes has been a couple of sidewall cuts in my first season with them (2014). No problems at all last year.
