Cut the cable on my Schmidt Edelux
« on: January 18, 2016, 04:08:26 pm »
Bugga..... After fitting a new front loader rack to my Nomad, I've carried out a completely unskillful manoeuvre involving a pair of sharp pliers and now I cannot seem to get the Schmidt Edelux re-wired up to work properly. Any ideas anyone please.....??!    :-\

Have you moved the light?  Is the earth connection still good?

Yes, and thanks very much for the reply   :)
My plan was to move the light forwards onto the front rack. I assumed that i could re-connect the coax cable using two separate cables...... It did not work.
Now i have tried putting the light back to its original position and re-connecting the wiring, but now i have no front light and no charge to the Tout Terrain USB stem    ???

Have you got a test meter (or test lamp) to check whether power is getting to the light when you spin the wheel.  That will tell you whether the problem is with the light or the wiring.  Dynamos can be very fickle!

A thought - if you are running a twin cable to the light - ie positive & negative - have you accidentally swopped the wires over?

Got it working again, and fixed to the front rack. I can't really fathom out how it happened but somehow there was another break in the headlamp cable.
It was all working perfectly the day before??
The Tout Terrain wasn't working either......and thats a different cable altogether?!?
All good now though....Perhaps i should leave the pliers at home next time ;D
Thanks for the help                Namaste  :)

Sounds like you jerked the wire when you cut it, causing the break.
