Thorn Brevet
« on: November 05, 2015, 07:57:22 pm »
Hi All!

My name is Joao and I´m a happy owner of a Thorn Brevet.

I´ve bought it in Portugal to an English friend who had bought in the UK.

In September i moved to the UK and brought the Thorn with me... back home! :)

It´s used in may daily commute and also for some longer rides on the Weekends.

Now some pictures.. :)

Hi João!

Welcome to the Thorn Cycling Forum!

My, what a lovely Thorn Brevet you have, and a terrific back-story as well. How nice to hear it is "home" once again and giving pleasure to its third owner. A real pleasure to see your photos of this wonderful machine; thanks for posting them.

Best,

Dan.

A dramatic bike, dramatically posed! I love the angled bedroll. Beautiful photos.

Bom dia, João, and welcome!  This is the first Brevet I've seen -- nice bike, and great photos. I especially liked the bikes against the whitewashed wall of the cottage.

Nice bike. Where does the brevet sit in the thorn range? Somewhere between audax and club tour?

Thank you all for the welcoming.  :)

I´ve attached the catalogues from Thorn Brevet. I would say that this was the entry level bicycle back then.

There are some things that i would like to upgrade on her, but the most annoying one is the overlapping..  :o

How old do you think your bike is?

Because life is what happens when you make plans.. a small change in my life made me leave the UK but i´ve broght the Brevet with me.

In the last months i´ve been doing some touring (camping and credit card  :D) and still in love with the Brevet.

But unfortunately the Brevet is not the best option for big off road adventures and the 28c tires show some limitations on more tough terrains.

Thinking about an upgrade to something for offroad adventure friendly. Probably will keep the thorn as a city commuter/road.

An now some pictures  :)

João!

Good to hear from you again and to see the Brevet is still in use. As I recall, you were thinking of selling it last October. Good thing you still have it for your adventures. I especially like the tent photo. Are you back in Portugal?

All the best,

Dan.
