Pedal recommendations
« on: February 25, 2007, 06:22:49 pm »
Does anyone have recommendations for pedals for extended touring?  When I did "end to end" I used Shimano SPD pedals.  I ended up with really sore knees, which may or may not have been caused by the pedals.  Any advice on pedals that are kind to knees would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've exclusively used Time Atac pedals for about 10 years having first read that they were 'knee friendly' [not that I might add that I had knee problems but coming from toe clips I was a little nervous about developing knee problems]
They require zero maintainance and are comfortable

A second vote for the Atacs.  I bought some VP Shimano clones and they gave me sore knees. Switched to the Atacs and no problems since.  Tough as old boots and the cleats seem to last forever.
