Title: First overseas trip for the new tandem
Post by: robert-S on September 11, 2013, 10:48:46 am
We spent a week and a half in Normandy with the new Thorn tandem (Raven Discovery). Here's a brief report (http://robertsaunders.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=88&Itemid=233), with pictures.

We managed to cram two suitcases, the tandem, a time trial bike and assorted other sacks and bags into the back of a Ford Focus, which clearly illustrates the benefits of specifying S&S couplings! Splitting the tandem is considerably less hassle than putting it on a roof rack. The bike performed excellently throughout, I am happy to report.

My! What a wonderful tour summary, Robert; I read every word on every page, then went back and caught the whole of the five-part tandem review.

This latter is a really good bit of reading for any prospective Thorn Rohloff tandem owner, as it takes the reader through the selection process from the perspective of prior tandem ownership. That blue bike is a *beauty*! Really nicely done, Robert, and I enjoyed your Garmin GPS tracks as well.

Thanks for sharing; so glad your trip went so well (and through countryside familiar to me!) and I still shake my head in awe at your marvelous Focus packing job!

Best,

Dan.
