Title: Rohloff gear cable length tip/idea
Post by: in4 on April 23, 2021, 02:32:30 am
Very simple tip to share: When needing to measure the gear change cable length before cutting use a bamboo straw. I had a 💡 moment, in the fruit market today.  Cut to 200mm I recall.

Nice one, Ian. :) Should work as well as one made of brass or other material. Opens up some ideas for locally available replacements while touring.
Best,

Dan.

I had the same idea using some cheese straws. Your tool bag will almost certainly be lighter by the end of a tour than when you start.

Seriously though, I made my own using one of those plastic balloon sticks from a McDonald's balloon one of my kids brought home. Better than ending up on a landfill by reusing it. Not going to win me s green accolade like your idea deserves.

How weird is this: I just went to measure and cut them but they already measure 200mm. My stars must be in alignment today.
