Title: Rethreading spindle on Gilles Berthoud twist shifter
Post by: Fholden on July 18, 2020, 12:12:41 pm
Hi folks,

I had to take my GB twist apart in order to get it on some handlebars. In the process I had to de-construct the rear box that actuates the hub. Now I can’t get any of it to work anymore! I can’t find any instructions for the system anywhere online, and am worried I’ve buggered it beyond all recognition.

At the moment I have two cables threaded from the twister, coming out by the hub. I can’t get the twist to actually twist, and I can’t figure out how to re-wind the cable back on the little spindle that’s turns round.

Any thoughts, or have I just been a colossal idiot?

Have you contacted GB to ask for an installation diagram/instructions?

Uhh...re-reading, do you mean the problem is in the EX box? If so, it is relatively easy to re-wind the cables 'round the pulley wheel in the shift-box. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ha9__3VLg

Best,

Dan.
