My Audax 853 restored. I tried and at last managed an upload ....

Lovely job!

Nice looking bike but it could be made very good looking by replacing some of the ubiquitous black with polished silver, then it would look less like every other bike from the last ten years.
Just my opinion of course ;)

I tried and at last managed an upload but now I have two! Someone (Dan?) please remove one for me.
No, because learning is a good way to augment your photo-posting skillset, John.
Look for the MODIFY button near the top-right of your post. Click it. Now go to "Attachments and other options" below the text box. Look for "Attached" and uncheck the box for the photo you wish to remove. When finished, click the SAVE button. Done.
Best,
Dan.

Love the matching light and headset colours. Excellent build!

I wish I could get my bar tape as neat as that . . . .

I like opinions and always respond accordingly.
I like black mudguards and components if possible.

Another top quality build again there John, love the little details and especially the metallic red and blue paint job.
Just come back from a spin on my 853, it's such a good bike.

Neil

Lewis,
Like the mudguards Bar tape simply (?) takes effort and practice!
Glad you offered the compliment.

Actually, when this bicycle was new, Thorn fitted Black mudguards with silver components!

Yes that's a good combination, I have that on one bike, all black on another bike and all silver on another. Doesn't matter of course as long as the rider is happy with it. My personal dislike is when the seatpost, bars and stem don't all match, or when someone has tried to colour co-ordinate but the colours are all slightly different. But none of it is my business, I only commented on your thread to show there was an alternative view to comments you'd posted elsewhere ;)

I especially like the gold chain, very stylish.
I will almost be a shame to have to oil it.

Oil is clear. Outer plates do not need oiling, just the actual rollers.
It is dirt/dust which gets picked up which spoils the looks of any chain. Simply wipe after each ride.
I am such a fussy person!
Thank you for the great comment.
