Apologies if this has been done elsewhere but I'd be interested in others' experiences of fitting a rear rack to a disk braked Mercury.
I'm not intending to carry an enormous amount (I've got a Raven for that!) probably at max a couple of front panniers so currently I'm thinking of a Tubus Fly in stainless steel. Do these fit easliy enough round the disk brakes? Or is there a better alternative?

Some friends of mine use Toppeak racks that have an extra offset at the bottoms of the legs to give brake units the clearance they need.
I am just listing this as an example:
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/carriers-racks/topeak-super-tourist-dx-for-rear-rack-for-bikes-with-disc-brakes/
They might make other racks that are more applicable to your purposes, I did a search and that particular Toppeak rack was the first one for discs that my search gave me. I did not research it any more than that.
I have not used these types of racks, but my only bike with disc brake in back has the brake unit on the chainstay instead of seatstay so I do not need such a modification. But my friends are happy with the racks they got.

Does your Mercury have a TRP brake or Avid BB7?

Hi Dave, thanks for responding. My Mercury has Hope disks

In which case the Tubus rack will fit fine, but you will need to fit the mudguards with P clips to the rack. We have specially made Stainless clips for this purpose, if you call 01278 441505 we can sell you some.
