Please, can you tell us which models of each you are comparing?
How are the SON lights worse? Beam pattern? Reach and throw? Brightness? Flaws in the beam pattern? Cutoff? Hardware (switches)? Reliability?

These use the same basic optics (reflector and LED source), differing in the switch (magnetic vs mechanical), materials (machined aluminum vs molded plastic) and lens (tempered glass vs plastic), water sealing and wire leads.
In what ways do you find the SON lights to be worse? In side-by-side comparisons with a friend's SON Edelux II, my own Cyo IQ Premium Senso Plus seems to give almost identical lighting performance at less cost but also very likely less ultimate durability. I figured the difference in price would allow me to upgrade to the next generation B&M lights every several years or so, making them a better value for me.
Is it the beam pattern or brightness of the SON you've found inferior in some way?

Today while riding through a quarter mile long tunnel (~400 m) I was sure that my Luxos U was quite dim, and then it quit while I was still in the tunnel but I pushed the switch and it came on again. Managed to finish riding through the tunnel which has no artificial lighting. And later today my light did not want to work right. Eventually figured out that one of the leads from the hub became unhooked during my ride today. Hooked it up and the light suddenly worked great. And it was then that I concluded that I was trying to see while riding through the tunnel on only the light from the stand light, thus of course it was quite dim.

So, based on my short story above, some of us do not always have things wired proper. So, my question is - are your lights hooked up correctly? Did you give them a fair test?

what is the diference between son and b&m 1-the price £144 v £86 2-the reach and spread of the beam seems to be the same 3-build son ally housing ia a head of black plastic but never broken a b&m 4-stand light on b&m is way ahead of the son for town use this is the most important point have been using b&m for 10 years plus using son for the last 3 months
