Title: Thorn Club Tour
Post by: philb0412 on April 09, 2018, 01:43:41 pm
Just spotted this on eBay. A Club Tour with butterfly bars. The chainrings look a bit worn.

It only had a day left when I posted it. It sold for £421.

Nice enough bike in its day, but that's considerably more than I would have paid.  I've just seen a younger and immaculate touring Mercian go for not much more.

It's much the same vintage as my old Club Tour (http://thorncyclesforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=12508.0). I would say around year 2000. Mine came with 3 X 8 speed RX 100 with a 11-25 cassette which I replaced with a 9 speed mtb rear mech and 11-32 cassette to get better bottom end gearing. From reading the ad it seems that the previous owner has done something similar. It also has the same bombproof Mavic T261 rims as mine, sadly no longer available.

Surely you are not thinking of selling that one as well. I was hoping you would come over and do that Scottish tour using that bike.  ;)
