Title: Nomad Modificaiton - Eccentric Bolts
Post by: mickeg on June 16, 2015, 11:13:10 pm
Twice now I have had loose eccentric bottom bracket shell bolts.  The first time I put blue Loctite on the bolts, but eventually I cleaned that off since it made the bolts so stiff that I could not tell how tight they were.  This time I wrapped a couple rubber bands around them several times so that they can't unscrew themselves.

For reasons I do not understand, when I tried to post a photo I got an error message - "Cannot access attachments upload path!"  I have posted photos before so something odd is happening.

Summary: Forum mail upgrade broke the theme links, which includes photo attachments and avatars. I'm in a place of limited Internet connectivity and my connection to the server times-out before I can upload and invoke the tool needed to reset the links. Adrian, Thorn/SJSC's IT guy, has graciously offered to fix it for us, but he has been away on vacation, just returned yesterday. I would imagine he has a backlog on arrival, but will get to it soonest.

Please hold tight.

Photos can be inserted using inline html tags, since they are stored elsewhere and will display when your browser invokes the call to fetch them. For a tutorial on how to do that, see: http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=4313.0 You will need to have your photos stored online at a hosted site or on your own server for this to work.

All the best,

Dan. (...who misses pittsures as much as anyone  :'( )

Thanks for the detail on photo issues, I will wait.  I do not use any photo sharing web sites so they are not stored elsewhere.

Photos working again.

A rubber band or two wrapped around my Nomad Mk II eccentric bolts should keep them from unthreading by themselves.

It's a good idea but IME ordinary rubber bands perish quite quickly. Bands cut from a discarded (large) inner tube (butyl) would last better.
